Brass Instruments: History and Uses
Bugle
The bugle is a very simple brass instruments--a small natural horn with no valves. The pitch is controlled by the player's embouchure only, and therefore, it usually sounds only notes in the harmonic series.
Today, the bugle is used primarily in the military and in drum and bugle corps (bugles in such a corps may have valves--in which case it is like a cornet).
