Harps of Lorien

Harps of Lorien is a co-operative business with a mission to provide instruments for healing. These instruments are blessed and prayed over in the making, sanding, and finishing. It is in this phase that the beauty and grain of the wood comes alive and finds its voice; and are inscribed with mantras and prayers for peace.

The founder of Harps of Lorien, Raphael Weisman, has been making instruments and been involved in creative artwork for over 28 years. He studied musical instrument technology and design in London and was one of the few instrument builders in the forefront of the revival of Early Music in Europe, where he built lutes, bandoras, orpharions, Renaissance guitars, and other instruments based on originals that survived the ravages of time and ended up in museums around the world. He researched and specialized in the manufacture of the vihuela, the predecessor of the guitar, spending a year making a replica of the only surviving instrument found in a museum in Paris.

Over ten years ago Raphael turned his hand to the manufacture of lyres and meditation instruments in order to provide easy-to-play pentatonic instruments for families and Waldorf Schools, and also pursued his love of Celtic and folk music by making Celtic Harps. His designs are flowing, sculptural and are works of art as much as playable instruments. He has also developed a line of Celtic or Folk Harps of different sizes, including two models of travel harps that fit in the overhead compartment of airplanes.

Raphael is commited to bringing healing and comfort to those who benefit from the sound of the harp, seeing this vibration as a force for healing on the planet.

Spirit Guide is pleased to be able to offer the minstrel harp and two of the healing harps made by Raphael.

Please visit Harps of Lorien to see some of the other works by Raphael.

We have set our prices to be a bargain for you if you order through us. If you see another instrument by Raphael that you are interested in purchasing, please send us an inquiry via our Query Page, and we will see if one is available for a slightly reduced price.

Mid-East Manufacturing

Mid-East Manufacturing is a small, family-owned and operated company. They began their business in 1973, when Alice was teaching belly dancing in Ohio. She became frustrated with the cost of the zills (finger cymbals), and her husband, then a stockbroker, decided to manufacture and distribute them for her students. From there, the business grew by leaps and bounds as they began to show interest in other instruments.

Today, the company is housed in West Melbourne, Florida. Their sister company in Pakistan, Mid-East Manufacturing, is also a small, family-owned company where the instruments are manufactured.

They also obtain instruments from two companies in India--Bhargava & Co. and Pratap Music House--both of which are well-established and respected businesses.

Spirit Guide is pleased to offer you almost all of the ethnic and early instruments made by Mid-East Manufacturing, as well as their Asian, African, and  European drums.

Visit Mid-East Manufacturing to see their other instruments, belly dance supplies, and music stands (again, notice what a bargain our prices are, on the items we carry here at Spirit Guide).

Lou Capece Musichas been in business since 1964, and they are now a leader in the wholesale distribution of musical instruments and accessories throughout the U.S. They have also developed their own product lines--New York Pro, Oxford, DiPalo, and Danville--which have proven successful because they have kept costs to a minimum while maintaining a quality acceptable to professional musicians. Their products range from brass and wood wind, to percussion, electric and acoustic stringed instruments and cases. All products meet the quality standards of “Professional Musician” and “President” Lou Capece who is very hands-on in all day-to-day operations. All instruments from Lou Capece Music (with a product number beginning with "LCM) are delivered to the customer in "ready-to-play" condition.

LPD Music International

LPD Music International has been distributing musical merchandise worldwide for over 40 years. They have a 40,000 square foot facility and a state-of-the-art computer system to efficiently process orders. Their staff has extensive experience in the music industry, and a thorough knowledge of their products. Their goal is to service customers with quality products at the industry's best prices.

Spirit Guide offers guitars, band instruments, and ethnic stringed instruments through LPD, as well as Hohner harmonicas, accordions, and recorders.

LPD is Spirit Guide's primary source for guitars and other Latin American instruments made by Lone Star Guitars. Lone Star instruments are made in the legendary mouontain village of Paracho, high in the Sierra adre Mountains of Mexico. Paracho artisans have been perfecting their craft for over 200 years. Many of the luthiers at Lone Star are fourth and fifth generation musical instrument makers. The instruments are hand-crafted, quality instruments made from some of the finest woods. Each instrument has its own unique styling and beautiful inlay craftsmanship. These instruments provide the best sound for the least amount of money.

LPD also supplies Spirit Guide with Crestwood guitars and other acoustic stringed instruments. These instruments are well-crafted, and specifically challenge the notion that moderately priced instruments don't perform; they consistently provide bright tone, excellent action, and playability.

Spirit Guide uses LPD as the primary source of Strunal classical guitars, which are made in the largest instrument manufacturing facility in Europe. Located in the Czech Republic, Strunal builds on a rich tradition established by master craftsmen since the second half of the sixteenth century.

Carvin Guitars

Since 1946 Carvin has been building and selling high quality and highly regarded musical instruments. Founded in 1946 by Lowell Kiesel, Carvin started by selling guitar pickups that became the favorites of country and guitar instrumental heroes of the day. Surf music legends, The Ventures, used Carvin pickups in their Moserite guitars in the 1960s. Carvin is a true part of American musical history as the company predates the invention of rock n' roll!

Spirit Guide is pleased to offer the Carvin Cobalt series of acoustic instruments. These fine instruments are easily comparable to instruments twice their price, and if you are willing to pay a little more than for our other acoustic guitars, you will have an instrument that you will probably never have to upgrade from.

NOTE: Carvin does sell directly to consumers. The Spirit Guide packages include the "extras" that come with our other packages (gig bag, picks, strap, extra strings, etc.) supplied by Carvin.
